In Republic of Korea, there are relatively few institutes that foster technology teachers compared to other subjects. Due to the insufficient number of teacher training institutions, technology has been the subject with the largest number of unqualified technology teachers and teachers with similar subjects’ certificate in the school field. In such a problematic situation, universities that train technology teachers are of interest to many high school students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the thoughts of technology teachers of pre-service technology teachers who are attending an institution that fosters pre-service technology teachers. The participants of this study were 80 people from 4 institutions that foster technology teachers in South Korea. Motivation to become technology teachers, experiences as pre-service technology teachers, and thoughts about technology teachers were investigated using the questionnaire. The results are as follow. Most of the Korean pre-service technology teachers make the decision to become technology teachers after their third year of high school. It was found that the supporters who had the greatest influence on the decision to become a technology teacher were parents or teachers in secondary school. In addition, pre-service technology teachers thought that the priority that they needed to become technology teachers was to have affection, confidence, and professional knowledge and competency about technology and technology education.
