Abstract

Energy issues have become increasingly important with the increasing scarcity of global resources. International organizations and many countries have emphasized energy issues as their national policies and educational goals. In Taiwan, the government and educators also try to promote energy education at different academic levels. Therefore, it is crucial for educators and teachers to learn from other countries about their energy education, especially in the technology education area. Currently, Australia and Taiwan have some similarities on energy issues. For example, there are similarities in energy supply types; both use coal as the largest amount, gas is the second, and renewable energy is the least. Meanwhile, Australia and Taiwan have incorporated energy issues into national policies and education goals. The purpose of this study aims to compare and analyze the Energy Education in Australia and Taiwan, which will focus on (1) analyzing the current situation of energy education in Australia and Taiwan; (2) analyzing the energy education resources in Australia and Taiwan and the connection between the energy education resources and the national curriculum guideline; (3) comparing the energy education teaching examples in Australia and Taiwan. Finally, based on the content analysis results, suggestions for Taiwan's energy education and future related research are put forward.
