Abstract

In Japan, the AI Strategy 2021, approved by the Japanese Cabinet in 2021, calls for the systematic development of AI literacy from the elementary and secondary education stages. In this study, we focus on speech recognition, which has been attracting attention in recent years, and propose an instructional process for programming learning using speech recognition. We also verify the effectiveness of the proposed instructional process by using it in classroom practice. In a class practice for students in the third grade of junior high school, students were asked to conceive of a system for realizing a better life and building a better society by utilizing speech recognition. As a result of the practice, the students were able to establish basic knowledge of speech recognition and to conceive of a system that effectively utilizes speech recognition.
