Exploring female students enrolled in an all-girls classroom concept of and interests toward technology and engineering

Abstract
Using the Technology Engineering Attitude Survey (TEAS) and the Draw an Engineer Test (DAET), this investigation compared the experiences of students enrolled in a mixed male/female 7th grade classroom with those enrolled in an all-female 7th grade classroom. We noted that the students in the all-female classroom had different interests and attitudes towards Technology and Engineering and their enrollment went up in the course and in subsequent classes. Some self-reported perceptions of STEM improved through participation in the project, but others remained stagnant or dropped.
