In this hands-on workshop I, a Swedish middle school teacher, will first talk about and show some examples from my teaching in the subjects slojd and technology. The content is mainly aimed at middle school but can of course easily be modified so that it is suitable for all ages. Towards the end the participants will create some items in cardboard and sample bag clips in the field of mechanical movement.

I work as a “slojd”-teacher in Sweden and “slojd” is comparable with “Design and technology”, it´s a typical Swedish subject which includes many different craft techniques in many different materials as wood, textiles, metal. I also teach the subject of technology.

My opinion and strong belief are that to work with tasks that are crossovers between many different subjects is absolutely the best way for the students to learn. Almost every assignment that I give to my students includes crossover curriculum.
