Design Innovation, and Technology are among the most rapidly evolving fields of knowledge and practice in human society. While research journals offer a source for information in specilist areas of of design, or innovation or a sub-genre of technology studies, this broad field of innovation development, teahcing, learning, and practice is a Multi-dsicplinary challange.

Practicing teachers and teacher educators of design innovation and technology skills and knowledge require critical, integrated and multi-discplinary insights on new developments much more quickly, and much more richly with face-to-face exchange than text can provide alone.

This International Bienninal DATTA Research Conference hosted in Australia, has become the premier source for the edcuation profession on this learning area.  The DATTArc, forms part of the few International Research Conferences in the world network, along-side PATT (Pupils Attitudes Towards Technology), and TENZ (Technology Education New Zealand).

The Biennial International Design and Technology Teachers Association Research Conference (DATTArc), is dedicated to scholarly double blind peer reviewed research for the advancement of knowledge and insight that underpins informed educational practice in the field of Design Innovation and Technology Education.  The scope extends from Early Years of learning in child development to adult learning, and teacher education, and crosses cultural and geographic boundaries.

The DATTArc Conference is the revised name of the prior known Technology Education Research Conference (TERC) held since the year 2000.  As such, the DATTArc continues to be a significant, serious event attracting research and critical reflection on teaching and learning of design, Innovation and Technology Education from around the world.

Educationists, and Teachers share insights with experts in Design and Technology Innovation fields such as STEM.  Accumulating over 18 years of maturing and evolving peer reviwed submissions, the  ARCHIVE provides an impressive and unique central body of work that can be searched and drawn upon by classroom teachers, curriculum officers, scholars, students and the wider community world wide. Fostering applied design led innovation capabilities: how do we know we are doing it better than any other subject?

The world we make defines us: so we better make good decisions!  Increasingly, applied design led innovation capability is a sought after new generation skill-set combining creativity and technical knowledge required for both industry and community life.   From emergent play to sophisticated pioneering capabilities, this international event asks:

    • ‘What must be the reformed vision for design and technology education that assures its future as a necessary and highly invested field of learning?’
    • ‘How can design and technology assert itself as the lead provider of applied design led innovation capability? A capability that uniquely develops the integrated mind and fosters innovation attributes that last a pupil’s lifetime.’
